Born Faustino Suarez in Guanabacoa, Cuba, November 28th
1934. Came to the United States in 1956. After visiting Key West he fell in love
with his wife Camelia and the neighborhood known as Gatoville. His Cuban passion
and love for art and music was a natural bound for him and his friends Mario and
Perucho Sanchez and Tony Barcelo.
Papito was a commercial painter by trade. But he enjoyed working on canvas and
woodcarvings “intaglio”.
He loved to paint images of the ocean- smugglers, rafters, pelicans, sailing
boats, power boat races, rooster fights and images of Cuba and Key West.
Died January 20, 1997.
